Hilliard’s was getting its start in the midst of a microbrewery craze. Playing off the common misconceptions and advantages to canning rather than bottling beer, the branding drafts off of the style of classic beer branding. It is inspired by—and elevates—the inexpensive products that were ubiquitous before the craft beer boom. As a result, Hilliard’s stands out from the do-it-yourself aesthetics of many Northwest brewers as a contemporary canned beer that gives a respectful wink to its mainstream predecessors.
